There are tons of Instagram posts with home and bedroom decor ideas. It can provide amazing inspiration ideas but can also get you stuck in an "influencer buy" trap of endless Amazon packages. Building an inspiration board can be incredibly helpful to visual the items cohesively together.
But without the help of those reels and stories, where should someone even start? For bedrooms, I always suggest Target. The quality of their bedding is as good as Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel and is at an attractive price point.
Let paint be your guide. Choose a color scheme that will make you feel like you entered an oasis but also you will want in 3-5 years. The entire room will be centered around your choice, so take your time making the decision.
I always suggest a rug that is low pile (less than 3/4" inch for bedroom) for a clean look and bring in hints of color from the walls and ties into the flooring. Safavieh is my #1 affordable rug company suggestion. Their website is super easy to use and and almost all options can be purchased at Walmart, Target or Amazon.
Bedding should be layers of neutrals that can build on each other. Think duvet, quilt, and throw in that order. Choosing high quality, inexpensive options from somewhere like Target allows you to buy the necessary pieces to create the high quality look without spending $$$$.
Lighting is always necessary. Whether its table lamps or sconces it should be symmetrical on either side of the bed to create a visually aligned look and also allow for multiple lighting moods.
Finally art; this is a personal choice and while it should cohevisely tie together a room, the aesthetic of the art should always align with the person. It doesn't matter if its nature, landscape, abstract, or photo galleries, it should be beautiful to you.
